police arrest 22 mainland women in karaoke club

An anti-vice operation arrested 22 mainland women in Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday night for breaching conditions of stay. Undercover policemen posing as karaoke customers arrested the women, aged 20 to 37, at a karaoke nightclub in Mody Road. Immigration officials were following up the case last night.

Lorry wrecks railings

A container truck destroyed 14 metres of railings and toppled onto its side on the Yuen Long Highway at Tai Kei Leng, Yuen Long, at about 12.15am. The 45-year-old driver was not hurt.

Transport to Disneyland

A plea for $454.5 million to fund a consultancy on a key road link was withdrawn by the Government.

Further studies will be made after legislators said the completion date of Route 10 would not coincide with the opening of the park in 2005.

The proposed route between North Lantau and Yuen Long Highway is scheduled to be completed in 2007.

Cyclist killed

A cyclist, 75, was killed when he was knocked down by a goods van while crossing the Tuen Mun-bound lane of Yuen Long On Lok Road in Yuen Long at the junction of Po Yip Street. He was declared dead at Pok Oi Hospital.
