Yukon wilderness a sight to behold in all seasons

Sparsely populated Canada is a paradise for people who like breathtaking landscapes and exploring quirky small towns.

One of the most interesting places to explore is Yukon, a northwestern province that is one of the world's largest unspoiled territories.

Director appointed

BEST Wide Group has appointed Stephen Bosworth as an executive board director.

Mr Bosworth is a veteran of the US diplomatic corps, having served as American ambassador to Tunisia and the Philippines during his 26 year career.

Best Wide Group was formerly known as Yukon Holdings. It makes and sells garments and is involved in property investment.

Firm to change name

YUKON Holdings will be renamed Best Wide Group to reflect the firm's change of ownership and management.

A special general meeting of shareholders will be held on March 13 to approve the name change.

Excellent Fortune raises stake in Yukon Holdings

EXCELLENT Fortune has acquired about 94.8 per cent control of ailing textile group Yukon Holdings.

Excellent Fortune had offered $1.34 for each Yukon share and by the close of the general offer yesterday, it had received acceptances for 66.33 million shares, or 31.11 per cent of the issued shares, from minority shareholders.

Yukon Holdings loss up 30pc

YUKON Holdings has reported a 30.3 per cent rise in attributable loss to $14.56 million for the year ended March 31.

Turnover fell 36.7 per cent to $216.01 million. Loss per share was 6.8 cents.

The company's directors did not recommend the payment of a final dividend.

Yukon has lot to gain from Sai Kung deal

YUKON Holdings will spend $87.01 million on a Sai Kung residential bungalow project with gross floor area of 18,100 sq ft.

The firm has agreed to buy two lots at Sai Kung, with total area of 33,280 sq ft and a market value of $82 million, for $39 million.
