China's miners digging for gold in Ghana, pay a high price

"In Ghana, the number of mines run by Chinese in partnership with locals peaked at more than 2,000 in 2012, a time when miners transferred more than a billion yuan mines from there to China in a month, according to various media reports.
While Ghanaian laws state that only locals can perform small-scale mining, many Chinese workers in the past made use of a grey area, claiming they offered “technical assistance”. Read the full story here."
