Inside a 'zombie' startup electric vehicle company

December 26, 2016

Suda Electric Vehicle Co. was founded in 2010, in Sanmenxia, Henan province. The company had planned to be churning out 100,000 small and mid-sized battery-powered sedans a year by now – twice as many as Tesla produced last year. The local government has continuously supported Suda, seeing it as key to taking the industry to the next level, but Suda hasn't sold a single electric vehicle till 2016, with the media calling it a zombie company. We booked a trip to check it out in person.
