COLOMBIA, ARACATACA : Nobel-prize winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez said his hometown of Aracataca was the inspiration for the fictional world of Macondo, described in his most famous work 'One Hundred Years of Solitude'. Residents of the impoverished small town close to Colombia’s Caribbean coast hope that, following his death, more tourists will come to see the birthplace of one of the 20th century’s greatest writers.
