As the fears of China's tightening grip on Hong Kong grow, the localist groups have adopted different perspective on how to safeguard the city's autonomy. Hong Kong Indigenous party¹s Edward Leung upholds the idea of Hong Kong independence from China. However, Dr. Cheng Chung-tai, member of the Civic Passion, sees amending the Basic Law as an alternative to strive for more autonomy for the city.
