Panetta, Karzai discuss Afghani defence strategy

US defence secretary Leon Panetta has met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul. They discussed the future presence of American soldiers after 2014, when Washington hands over control to Kabul. Panetta and Karzai refused to be drawn on how many American troops would remain in Afghanistan, and announced a White House meeting between the Afghan leader and Obama next month.
