Children with muscular diseases could have their strength boosted by a new wearable device designed by Tan Xin-yang, a Chinese student, who graduated from the Royal College of Art. The device, named Vigor, was recently shown off at London's Royal College of Art Design Show. Tan has set up a start-up to commercialise Vigor, promising a public release when an improved version is complete.

A magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck central Italy, with at least 10 people reported dead in 2 towns. The quake hit at 09:36 (HKT), 100km (65 miles) north-east of Rome, at a shallow depth of 10km. The quake caused serious damage to a number of small towns and villages but more heavily populated were not affected.

“My goal is to buy Hollywood companies and bring their technology and capability to China.” Wang Jianlin, chairman of real estate and entertainment conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group Co and China’s richest man, says he expects to announce two billion-dollar film-related deals this year.
