At the movie’s midnight premiere on Wednesday, the 21-year-old college student cried so much that she started to feel chest pain and struggled to breathe. Before she was carried onto an ambulance, she was hit by muscle spasms in her arms and legs, with her fingers stuck in a clutching position.

Doctors later said they had to put an oxygen mask on her in order to help calm her emotions and reduce her hyperventilation. The woman has been released from the hospital now.

Avengers: Endgame hit China’s cinemas at midnight Wednesday morning, two days ahead of its US release. Earth's Mightiest Heroes have already shattered all previous records for box office debuts in China, topping out at around US$107 million.
