Operated by NetEase, it carries more than 80 comic series translated into Simplified Chinese. That includes well-known titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as new ones led by Chinese superheroes. China has a dedicated Marvel fan base. Last year’s Avengers: Endgame was the country’s third highest-grossing film , trailing only domestic hits Nezha and The Wandering Earth . It’s notable given that US blockbusters can sometimes flop spectacularly in China. All titles on NetEase’s Marvel Unlimited are available for free at launch for an unspecified “limited period.” A subscription will later cost 18 yuan (US$2.60) a month. That’s much cheaper than the international version’s US$9.99 monthly subscription plan, but that version advertises more than 25,000 comics.
