'We are covering the milestones of the brand,' says Dieter Pachner, vice-president of sales. 'We are also creating new products and additional movements on our complications, which are outstanding. The Senator Diary is the first mechanical watch where you can adjust the alarm clock 30 days in advance. It has all the Glash?tte power inside - pure and subtle German design, creativity in construction of mechanical movements, innovative and useful functions.'

There are two new models of the much-admired PanoInverse XL. One, in red gold, is offered in a limited edition of 200. The new version also has the galvanised silver duplex swan-neck fine adjustment visible with the screw balance oscillating beneath. This is the focal point of the PanoInverse XL and in the new design, it is at the centre of the dial.

The Pano Collection 2012 pays homage to the successful Pano line launched a dozen years ago. These mechanical marvels keep the asymmetrical hour/minutes and subsidiary seconds dials - but have a larger case. The updated releases include the PanoGraph, the timepiece which launched the entire line, the PanoReserve in three new variations, and the PanoMaticLunar, also in three new versions.

The PanoGraph has a 30-minute totaliser in three cumulative 10-minute scales with three separate pointers. Two chronograph pushers at 4 and 2 o'clock indicate the standard chronograph timing operations and the chronograph reset mechanism.

All Pano dials are laid out according to the divine proportion so beloved of artists. On the PanoMaticLunar, the hour/minute and subsidiary seconds dials are aligned along a vertical axis to the left of centre, while the Panorama Date and moon phase display are set to the lower and upper right.

The PanoReserve, similar to the other models in the collection this year, is a minimalist interpretation of its predecessors. A red gold model with a silver dial has faceted red gold hands and applied hour markers. A subtle salute to the watchmaker's origins is the labelling of the panorama date and power reserve in German. Glash?tte has operated in Saxony for more than 165 years.
