Thigh-highs reaching new level of fashion

THEY'RE everywhere. You can't walk down the street, catch the MTR or wait at a bus stop without some local lass pouting by in a pair of thigh-high tights.

For the past couple of months, trendies have gone ape over the attire which has had a similar effect in the US.

Even the recent cold snap hasn't stopped our Hong Kong gals from slapping on the mini-skirts and thigh-highs.

But just what ignited the trend? It evolved horribly quickly, unlike other trends such as the hair colouring and platform sneakers popularised by Canto-pop starlets.

For those who have been away for the past few months, one of the more risque advertisements adorning the walls of the MTR is that featuring top model Jane Powers pulling on a pair of thigh-highs.

The sultry ad campaign by Hot Sox was launched in the US in October and received such an outrageous response that frisky male vandals were swiping the posters from bus stops and construction site walls.
