PARAMOUNT leader Deng Xiaoping has no illnesses, despite his old age, said his son-in-law Wu Jianchang. 'Deng is now more than 90 years old. He cannot be as strong as 20 years ago,' said Mr Wu in Hong Kong yesterday. He stressed that Mr Deng was in good health, as he still went to watch a fireworks display on China's national day with his grandchildren. However, Mr Wu refused to comment where Mr Deng would spend the Lunar New year. Mr Deng's health has aroused great concern among foreign investors. Mr Wu is a prominent businessman who comes to Hong Kong regularly. China analysts said if Mr Deng's health held up, there was a high likelihood he would spend the Lunar New Year in Shanghai, as he has done since early 1990. Recently, Mr Deng's family have kept silent on whatever instructions he might have given on the economy and other major issues.
