Bonhams is the leading international auction house for Chinese snuff bottles and another stunning selection will be sold this week.
Extraordinary results were achieved in sales of Parts I, II, III and IV of the Mary and George Bloch Collection. Every snuff bottle that was put up for auction was sold and world records were broken in 11 categories,
Part V promises another spectacular showing. A total of 168 snuff bottles will go on the block, carrying an overall estimate of HK$24 million to HK$40 million.
Highlights include lots 38 and 148, both famille-rose, enamelled, copper 'European ladies with children' snuff bottles from Imperial Palace workshops.
The former is dated 1736-1760 and estimated at HK$4 million to HK$8 million, while lot 148 dates to 1736-1775 and is estimated at HK$2.2 million to HK$4 million.
