There was fighting talk when Jelinda Chin first Mark Chapman. Jelinda, a teaching associate, and Mark, the regional director of an insurance company, met six years ago at a gym in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they were attending muay Thai classes.

The couple wed on January 14 at The China Club in Central, celebrating with 120 guests from around the world. 'When Mark put the wedding ring on my finger, it felt magical,' Jelinda said.

She said Mark was impressed when he saw her training in the gym. 'I thought he was kind when he offered to help me with my technique - though I didn't really need the help,' Jelinda recalled.

The sports enthusiasts bonded over a few sessions at the gym and on their first date went to watch a martial arts contest.

'He's happy-go-lucky, always smiling and laughing, and kind to others. He's very positive. He's optimistic even when things look bleak,' Jelinda said.

They shared the same attitudes towards life and Jelinda knew early on that Mark was the right man for her. When he moved to Hong Kong two years ago, Jelinda came too, though she had never lived outside Malaysia and had to leave behind a promising career, her family and friends. That was when Mark realised she was the girl he wanted to be with for the rest of his life.
