I was disappointed to find Bliss in Hong Kong doesn't offer the post-Brazilian treatment to exfoliate, avoid ingrown hair and just calm that area down after the assault! I Googled 'vajacial hk' but also found nothing. Bikini season's here. Help!

Out of the Wild, South Side

The Dictator rules: Woah. Slow down there, Wild Woman. There's a big difference between exfoliating (which should be a regular habit) and soothing. As Anna Treier from the Sense of Touch spas (tel: 2869 0939; www.senseoftouch.com.hk) very sen-sibly told us, waxing itself is a form of exfoliation. That means freshly waxed skin is prone to irritation, hyper-pigmentation and more. Immediately after a waxing, Treier advises you keep the area dry and clean; Avoid: scrubs, fragranced products, sunbathing, exercising, perspiring and tight clothing. Sense of Touch therapists always apply a soothing hypo-allergenic oil after bikini waxes. For a fun twist, try the Bikini Ready Brazilian Bling (HK$480) waxing finished off with a crystal design applied to the area. Options include a butterfly motif or the initials of someone special. The term, Vajacial, made famous by San Francisco's Stript Wax Bar, isn't used by any of the experts we know. However, the unrelated Strip (17 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, tel: 2845 0838; www.strip.com.hk) offers Brazilian Facials. They include a 10-minute ice mask (HK$130), intensive post-wax treatment (HK$65 and up) and an expert extraction so you won't pick (HK$100 and up). It also sells a number of take-home products, such as X'ed Out Cream (HK$330). Finally, back to Bliss, which might not offer the treatment, but still sells the Ingrown Eliminating Pads (HK$350; W Hotel, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 3717 2797; www.blissworld.com), one of several between-waxing solutions we've recommended before.

It's so hot here! I want some cute short shorts that are chic enough. I want to wear them out at night without looking like I've been at the beach. Any advice?

The Dictator: Yes, don't do it, unless you're that rare beast who has perfect legs. 'Chic enough' for what, anyway? Fine dining? No. A night on the tiles? Well, OK. Our favourites are the ingenious fold-up Balenciaga shorts in rich silk (HK$9,200; The Landmark, Central, tel: 3428 8086). Yves Saint Laurent has also embraced pleats in magenta organza (HK$11,850; Alexandra House, Central, tel: 2868 0092). Fine, so you asked for short shorts. Carven has them in acid-bright jacquard or versatile solid coloured crepe (HK$3,250 to HK$4,750; The Landmark, tel: 2801 4051). Rue Madame's quintessentially cool French assortment includes bright floral prints by Sandro (HK$1,900 and up; IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2234 7880). Stroll through Lane Crawford's contemporary department for labels such as Elizabeth and James, Iro, ALC, MSGM and Opening Ceremony (HK$2,400 to HK$6,200; IFC Mall, tel: 2118 7777). For affordable, classically tailored short shorts, head to Club Monaco (HK$790 to HK$890; IFC Mall, tel: 3586 3046). Shorts are inherently casual, so pair them with more formal tops, accessories, and definitely heels.
