Mongkok to get new retail plaza

THE first grade A office and retail development in Mongkok in the past 10 years, the 25-storey Pioneer Centre, will usher in a new age of shopping and provide the area with a much needed face-lift.

Speaking at the topping out ceremony for the 500,000 square foot building, Godfrey Blott, managing director of First Pacific Davies (FPD), said both retailers and shoppers would benefit from the alternative shopping environment when it opens in the middle of next year.

Pioneer Centre is owned by Kowloon Development Co.

Besides shops there will be three restaurants, two cinemas and a 300-seat food court on the ground floor.

There is a further 271,500 sq feet of office space on 14 floors, beginning on the 10th floor.
