Fang Lijun pulls a crowd, but the guests draw the camera flashes at exhibition opening
The opening ceremony of Fang Lijun's latest art exhibition attracted a number of celebrities and art lovers. As well as having the chance to see the Chinese contemporary artist's paintings, many guests were delighted to see Fang in person, have photos taken with him and have him sign exhibition booklets.
Titled 'Living Multitudes', the exhibition, which runs until July 2, is curated by Johnson Chang Tsong-zung and Kim Joshua. Thursday's opening ceremony took place in the 2nd-floor atrium of Times Square, where Fang's paintings from various periods are on show. His latest work - three 18-metre-long installations - is on display in the mall's piazza.
If the pack of photographers was any indication of which guests had the most star power, veteran singer Paula Tsui Siu-fung definitely outshone model Marie Zhuge Ziqi. Zhuge was chatting happily with entertainment reporters and cameramen until Tsui appeared and was bathed in flashlight. Zhuge was left looking curiously at the crowd to see who had stolen her limelight.
Other guests included Eleanor Mok, the mother of actress-singer Karen Mok Man-wai. Actor Simon Yam Tat-wah and his model wife, Qiqi, officiated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Fang, the two curators and Tsui before raising a toast.
