Canto-pop star Chau knows what to do

In the competitive world of show business, aspiring stars sometimes act recklessly to get attention. But Canto-pop idol Chau Pak-ho knows better than that.

Chau was helping promote Lenovo's new IdeaPad Ultrabooks on Tuesday at The One mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. Since the slogan for the laptop series is 'For Those Who Do', Chau was obliged to talk about how he launched his career as a model then went on to become a singer and songwriter.

'Once I know what I want to do, I do the best I can to work towards that goal,' Chau said. 'I started as a model when I was just 17 years old, but I knew I didn't want people to focus just on my looks. So I apprenticed in a music studio and worked my way up to singing and composing. I've come a long way, and now I hope to put my knowledge and experience into practice. I hope my music can shine and be appreciated.'

Chau was joined at the event by musician Jun Kung, who also talked about the attitude of just doing it.

'I hope I can do a theatre show some day. I really admire Jim Chim Sui-man for his stand-up comedy. He's set a great example for me.'
