From a parcel loader 31 years ago, Brendan Canavan has worked his way up to become the new president of UPS Asia Pacific Region, overseeing the fastest-growing market for the express giant.
Canavan (pictured) joined the parcel company as a part-time package handler in 1981 while studying at Villanova University in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics.
He joined the company full time and served in various operational positions before being promoted to package division manager in 1989 in Lawnside, New Jersey.
Until 1998, he worked in corporate marketing, overseeing the development of new products in North America .
He was then promoted to district manager in Northern Illinois, upstate New York and Metro Chicago between 1998 and 2003.
In 2004, he was moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to manage the Worldport, the global air hub of UPS.
Most recently he served as president of North East Europe, based in Brussels. Under his tenure, the parcel company saw a smooth transition in its acquisition of Poland's leading parcel company, Stolica.
