While the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE looks pretty much like its predecessors, the last three letters - LTE - makes it a whole new animal altogether.

LTE, which stands for Long Term Evolution and refers to the next generation in mobile technology - 4G, is a real game changer.

For starters, a quick check on online network speed tests reveals that LTE can offer as much as 10 times the download and upload speeds - the highest incident registering over 40Mbps on the downlink - when compared with my HSPA+ device.

That means that every service, application, film, radio, and so on, that needs to go online, will be 10 times faster, or more, on 4G then your existing 3G device.

To help you handle all that incoming data, Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Tab LTE with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, which is probably one of the fastest processors in tablets today, and an impressive 6100mAh battery for extended use.

However, Samsung seems to have stopped there when it comes to the features of the LTE Tab. You get the Android 3.2 OS, rather than the latest 4.0 version. You get a pretty decent display with a resolution of 1280 x 800pixels, but certainly not the best that is out there.
