Now that summer is here, many students have opted to try their hand at earning some money by doing part-time jobs. While some people do not think students should work part-time, I support the idea.
First, working part-time can help improve students' self-esteem. Through earning, students will gain a sense of achievement. They can realise their own value and prove to themselves that they are capable people.
Also, by gaining a measure of financial independence, students will acquire a sense of maturity.
Second, part-time jobs can provide both training and experience. Students will get an insight into work in the 'real' world, and this will prepare them psychologically for their future careers.
Moreover, the level of competitiveness at most work places is often much higher than what students are accustomed to at school. By working part-time, they can acquire a healthy sense of competition.
