A MAN was shot several times in the back as he ate with family and friends in Ma On Shan last night. One of the bullets hit the arm of a nine-year-old boy.

   The 32-year-old victim was eating outside one of the huts in the Hing On temporary housing area at about 11.30 pm when a masked man approached and fired a shot at him.

  The man fled and the gunman gave chase, firing several more shots.

  Despite being hit several times, the man caught a taxi to the Prince of Wales Hospital, where he was in critical condition early today.

   The boy hit by a stray bullet was in fair condition.

  It was believed the man had recently been released on police bail.

  Police found four 7.62 mm shells near Block 10 of the site and a spent bullet of the same calibre outside Block 25.

  They called in the Fire Services Department for the loan of a powerful spotlight to help in the search. Police believed the attack might have been triad-related.
