A pet groomer led police on a wild car chase around Yuen Long at speeds of up to 140km/h just four months after another dangerous driving incident, a court heard yesterday.

Michael Ip Cheong-hing, 25, pleaded guilty in the District Court to five charges - dangerous driving, two counts of assaulting a police officer, one of resisting arrest and one of drug possession.

He was jailed for 28 months.

Ip was on bail awaiting sentencing on the first driving offence that occurred in November when he led police on a 19-kilometre chase in March.

The court earlier heard that police saw Ip run a red light in Kung Um Road on March 11 and gave chase.

He led them through various streets in Yuen Long, at one point driving into oncoming traffic for 300 metres.

Ip was finally forced to a stop when he rammed the car into a fence at Shui Tsiu San Tsuen.
