The LBD, or little black dress, is not the only outfit that is small, black and universally flattering, according to Karl Lagerfeld.

Chanel's prolific designer has teamed up with former French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld to celebrate the label's classic little black jacket through an international exhibition and a coffee table book of the same name.

The exhibition, which toured Tokyo, New York and Taipei, will be at The Space in Sheung Wan from tomorrow to July 16.

Lagerfeld and Roitfeld rounded up more than 100 personalities from the worlds of fashion, music, sports and society to pose with the garment, each adding a dash of individual flair. The little black jacket doubles as a bra, is paired with suspenders, has its sleeves shorn off, and is sexily left unbuttoned among the many incarnations.

It's not just the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Vanessa Paradis, Yoko Ono and Uma Thurman who have been given the Lagerfeld treatment. Men - including Alexander Wang and Riccardo Tisci - also don the jacket.

Closer to home, well-known Chinese faces, including actresses Zhou Xun, Tang Wei, Zhang Ziyi, and Tudou's art director, Yi Zhou, were among those putting their spins on Coco Chanel's signature outerwear.
