Primary school teacher Alice Chan, 28, met marketing manager Edwin Cheung, 33, at a summer camp in Vancouver back in 2002. During that trip, Alice was mesmerised by Edwin's wisdom and humour, while Edwin was intrigued by the quiet and shy Alice. They met up again in Hong Kong and went on a first date to share their photos from the Canada trip. 'We met at a dessert cafe next to a stinky tofu stall, which made our first date quite special,' he recalled. After months of courtship, they decided to give love a chance. 'We shared the same religion and interests, especially cooking,' said Edwin. 'She's also very kind-hearted, cheerful and creative.' 'Edwin takes good care of me and always makes me laugh,' Alice said. On New Year's Eve, 2010, Edwin took Alice out for dinner. He waited for the pre-arranged dessert course to arrive and then proposed to Alice. 'He especially asked the chef to make the dessert I love,' she said. He got down on one knee, with the ring in his hand and asked Alice to marry him. She said yes without any hesitation. The couple wed on February 25 at Christian Philadelphia Church in San Po Kong. They celebrated their marriage with friends at a lunch reception at Central's Watermark restaurant, followed by a traditional Chinese banquet at Langham Place Hotel to celebrate with relatives.
