LOCAL soccer fans will have the chance to see English Premier League side Crystal Palace and Rio de Janeiro League champions Cruzeiro playing in the territory next April.
Local First Division side Happy Valley, eighth in the Hong Kong First Division standings, have sent a letter to the Hong Kong Football Association to reserve the Hong Kong Stadium for the Palace match on April 23.
But there could be a fixture clash with the Viceroy Cup final which the sponsors want played on the same day.
According to the HKFA, the Hong Kong Stadium is available for soccer matches on April 5, 23 and 30 - the April 5 date being set aside for the Viceroy Cup semi-finals.
Happy Valley chairman Nick Lee said that if the Community Chest concert - scheduled for the Hong Kong Stadium on April 14 - was moved to the Hong Kong Coliseum as he had heard suggested, he would propose that the Viceroy Cup final be brought forward to avoid a fixture clash.
However, Lee said if that was not possible he would cancel his plans for the Palace match altogether.
