A POLICE inspector involved in an alleged corruption conspiracy with members of Mongkok vice establishments may give evidence against other officers suspected of taking bribes, the District Court heard yesterday.
Lai Kin-keung, 36, asked to be remanded in the custody of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) while he helps with its inquiries.
The inspector, who was attached to Mongkok Police Station, was one of 50 people arrested, including 10 police officers, during an ICAC investigation into bribes allegedly paid by vice establishments to police.
Lai is expected to plead guilty to two conspiracy charges when he next appears in court, on January 6. The case will then be further adjourned for sentencing.
Prosecutor Kevin Zervos said Lai wished to submit evidence to the judge at the appropriate time and was willing to testify in future actions.
