Hacken Lee gets up close and personal with select audience during intimate Macau show

Canto-pop king Hacken Lee Hak-kan travelled to Macau over the weekend to perform for 200 VIPs at the Galaxy's members-only China Rouge club.

'It was a very different experience for me because of its intimate nature. I was able to interact with fans much more closely than at my other concerts. I was also very inspired by the audience's instant reaction,' he said.

The singer performed his popular hits and also sang a Cantonese rendition of German pop singer Oceana Mahlmann's Endless Summer, the theme song of this year's Uefa European Football Championship. The dance floor heated up when the star, who is also an avid soccer fan, gave away autographed miniature footballs.

Lee plans to release his new studio album next month, on the theme of children's songs for grown-ups. It will feature playful songs inspired by lollipops and board games.

The album will include three songs he composed himself.

Next year Lee will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band in which he performs alongside veteran singer Alan Tam Wing-lun. They were planning a series of collaborations, Lee said.
