The arts appear to be experiencing something of a purple patch, with a profusion of large-scale auctions and swanky new galleries helping to make Hong Kong a hub for creativity. Now the city's photographers are being given a chance to shine, with entries being accepted for The First Hong Kong Photo Book Awards.
Participants are required to submit a compilation of photographs (produced with software available for free online) that will be judged by industry professionals both local and international. Having set the theme 'I love Hong Kong', the organisers are hoping entrants will capture the city from new angles.
The competition is split into student and open categories. In both, entrants will be judged on skill, layout design and theme coherence. An overall winner will receive photographic equipment worth more than HK$40,000 and up to HK$100,000 towards getting a book of their work published.
