Who started it? Cork & Candy, formerly known as Envi, was launched this year by technology entrepreneur and sometime life coach Christina Teo, whose varied and very international CV also lists a stint as the first general manager of Yahoo! Singapore and Southeast Asia. Teo came up with Cork & Candy almost by accident, taken as she was by the unique fashion potential of cork.
Why we love it: beyond the hip modern design, we also adore the label's use of cork fabric on bags and accessories. Cork is 100 per cent natural and completely recyclable making Cork & Candy a label that is eco-conscious as well as fashionable.
What we'd pick: it's tough to decide as there are so many great pieces in the current collection but if we were pushed we would plump for the sassy clutch (below left; HK$1,200), which has been treated to give it a snakeskin look. The pick of the larger bags is this roomy number (below; HK$2,200), which illustrates the stunning cork effect.
Where can you get it? Cork & Candy is at 1/F, 38 Cochrane Street, Central, tel: 2805 6238.
