L'Oreal Texture Expert Freezing Mist (HK$140/300ml) Claim: promises a fast-setting firm hold that's suitable for all hair types. It also provides long-lasting style support and shine. Aveda Volumizing Tonic (HK$190/109ml) Claim: adds weightless volume and shine on fine to medium hair. The certified organic aloe and wheat-derived amino acids build body while oryzanol, derived from rice bran, filters ultraviolet light. Rahua Voluminous Hair Spray (HK$240/178ml, at Joyce Beauty) Claim: a completely natural and alcohol-free hair spray. Creates a non-sticky hold and can be applied to dry or wet hair. The lavender and eucalyptus essence offers calming and relaxing aromatherapy benefits. Verdict A little bit goes a long way with Aveda's Volumizing Tonic, which lifts at the roots without weighing the hair down. It works best spritzed on layers of damp hair, then blow-dried out. L'Oreal's Freezing Mist doesn't add much volume, but as a holding spray it works well. It leaves a great shine and sets fast, so it's good for quick fixes despite its powerful synthetic smell. Rahua doesn't provide as much hold, but we noticed the added volume and it has a light, refreshing herbal scent.
