CONFUSION last night surrounded the fate of Hong Kong woman Angel Mou Pui-peng, who was due to be hanged in Singapore this morning.
Sources in Singapore claimed the execution of Mou, 25, had been postponed.
Changi prison officials were said to have told a family friend they had not received instructions for her execution by late last night.
Mou's Singapore lawyer, Peter Yap, could not be contacted for comment. Earlier, he told the South China Morning Post all avenues had been exhausted and he did not expect a reprieve.
Mou is believed to have spent yesterday with her mother, sister and son until Changi prison was closed to visitors at 4 pm.
The condemned woman, who has become a devout Christian since her arrest at Changi airport in 1991, was believed to be calm as she bid farewell to her family.
Prisoners on death row are only allowed to greet visitors from behind a window, but they can ask to hold hands as they share their final hours with their families.
