THE cream of Hong Kong's swimmers return to action in the pool next Tuesday and Wednesday in the Epson World Cup '95.
It will be the second time such a World Cup event, the first leg of the seven-stop short course series, has been staged in the territory.
The event, which has attracted 16 teams, will be held again at the Kowloon Park pool. Last year local swimmers broke 13 national records although the competition was dominated by the Russian men and the then untainted Chinese women.
Russia's men were led by by Alexandre Popov's world record-breaking time in the 100 metres freestyle.
Hong Kong's swimmers enjoyed a successful Asian Games in October and received an unexpected boost to their team medal tally a fortnight ago when two medals were stripped from the Chinese team.
Yesterday Hong Kong announced a 19-strong team comprising 10 female and nine male swimmers.
