POP fans are in for a special New Year treat this year.

'Countdown to 95', to be held at 8.30 pm on New Year's Eve at Victoria Park, will feature upbeat songs and dances by American group Up with People. Jointly presented by the Urban Council and the Hong Kong Telecom, the show will climax at midnight with the countdown to 1995.

Up with People is an international cultural organisation which travels the world for performances, cross-cultural education and voluntary service. The 47-member group includes youngsters from Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States and Venezuela.

The performances will include the group's best-known musical, World in Motion, Countdown, and two other fast-paced numbers, Rhythm of the World and a grand Finale.
