CHEUNG Man-ho and his younger sister, Mandy Cheung Man-yiu, did the territory proud with creditable performances in the China Triathlon in Hainan Island on Wednesday. University of Hong Kong freshman Man-ho won the junior men's category against a strong field of over 100 Chinese triathletes, while Mandy put up a gutsy performance to finish fifth in the junior women's division. Man-ho, 19, finished the Olympic distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike and 10 km run) in two hours, 34 minutes and 41 seconds. Mandy, 15, returned her first sub-three hour result for the Olympic distance when she stopped the clock at 2:56:30. The Cheungs were the only Hong Kong representatives at the event which attracted tens of thousands of spectators who lined the streets to cheer on the competitors. 'It's unbelievable there was such a large turnout to watch a triathlon race,' said a bewildered Robert Alderton, an official of the Hong Kong Triathlon Association.
