A MIXTURE of bouquets and brickbats are on the way to Prime's holiday season programme planners for the 'Best of 1994 . . . ' concept - a number of shows in the past fortnight which featured the year's highlights in various sports.

Mostly this involved simply repeating a single notable match or event - a much easier (and cheaper) approach than a freshly-made review programme of all events in the year.

In the case of the Chinese Soccer League an overview show was cried out for to give an impression of how the first Marlboro League had progressed.

But all we got was a repeat of one match - Sichuan v Dalian.

There was still some excellent, memory-jogging fare, though. Not least was the rugby union game of the year - the Bledisloe Cup clash between Australia and New Zealand featuring that awesome match-saving tackle on the All Blacks' Jeff Wilson by Aussie scrum-half George Gregan.

ATV yesterday launched their weekly magazine show Omega World Sport. Similar in style to Gillette World Sport, this half-hour programme differs in that it emphasises sports in Asia.
