AUSTRALIA'S Ian McCrossin was leading after the first heat of the World Flying Dutchman class yachting championship, sailed in challenging conditions in St Vincent's Gulf off Adelaide yesterday. McCrossin, on an elapsed time of two hours, three minutes 42 seconds for the heat, came in ahead of Paul Francis of New Zealand (2:04:52) and Hungary's Sabolcs Majthenyi (2:04:67) over the 12-nautical mile course buffeted by flukey 15-20 knot breezes most of the day. On Olympic scoring, McCrossin had 0.00 points against Francis' 3.00 and Majthenyi's 5.70, followed by Norman Rydge of Australia with 8.00 and Michael Dorrer of Germany with 10.00.
