CANTERBURY have created a storm by refusing to allow star five-eighth Jim Dymock to play for Tonga in next month's World Sevens.
Although born in Australia, Dymock has Tongan parents and is proud of his island heritage.
The classy five-eighth, who was unlucky to miss Kangaroo tour selection, asked to be allowed to play for Tonga in the prestigious tournament, only to be refused.
Dymock has now told the Bulldogs he will not represent the club in the Sevens, leading to an open confrontation that may see his contract torn up.
Although the weight of public opinion is on Dymock's side, crafty Canterbury boss Peter Moore refuses to budge on the issue.
'Jim is a contracted player to Canterbury and that's where the matter begins and ends,' Moore said.
