Hillary Clinton's offer to Mrs Gingrich

FIRST Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton has offered Newt Gingrich's mother an earful - a conducted tour of the White House. White House staffers slipped Mr Gingrich a personal note from the First Lady during his meeting with President Bill Clinton and congressional leaders. Inside was an invitation for the House Speaker and his mother, Kathleen Gingrich, to visit the White House for a behind-the-scenes tour, with Mrs Clinton as guide. The invitation came after Mrs Gingrich set off a brouhaha by whispering in reporter Connie Chung's ear that her son had called Mrs Clinton 'a bitch'. The President joked: 'God knows what she could have gotten my mother to say.'
