BEWARE the 'Grey' alien - a humanoid with a high-domed oval head, bluish skin and black, slit eyes with no pupils or eyebrows. Women are increasingly reporting strange encounters with these Greys - encounters which can leave them with cervical bruising, navel inflammation, interrupted periods, triangular-shaped scars and erotic flashbacks. Many claim to have experienced sex with these non-human beings. Some say they have been kidnapped and taken into spaceships to be experimented on. Others say they are visited at home by alien lovers. Jane Murphy, 31, lives in West Yorkshire with her husband who works as a mechanic. One March night, Murphy says that after going to bed, she suddenly found herself standing outside her home in her nightdress. 'I knew where I was,' she says, 'but I wasn't sure how I'd got there.' A huge metallic object was hovering overhead and a group of about 10 humanoid figures were coming towards her. 'Two of them held me and one gave me some sort of injection.' Murphy blacked out. 'When I woke up I was on my hands and knees on this table in a strange room and I was really frightened.' Murphy says she forced herself to look up and saw a two-metre-tall alien with eyes that were 'black, totally black'. 'Apart from that I would have said he was human. He wasn't a monster by any means.' Then Murphy was told she must bathe and took off her nightdress to sit in a plastic tub. Then she says she was helped back on to the table in the centre of the room and only the tall Grey remained with her. 'Then we were having sex. It was the strangest sensation of all. We were lying together, not moving, but all the sensations of human sex were there. I can't say that I was conscious of his penis, because I wasn't, but inside me it was all happening. 'I believe I came to a climax because at the time I felt it was the best sex that I had ever had. It seemed so strange lying on top of this stranger, not moving yet having sex and enjoying it.' Murphy says she then realised other figures had come into the room. Her sex partner climbed off the table and they gave her a gynaecological examination using long instruments, but without causing her any pain. Then the visit ended suddenly and Murphy found herself back in bed at 6.28 am, nearly time for her husband Mick to go to work. She thought it must have been a dream - except the skin on her arm was still bruised around the tiny puncture mark made by the needle. Murphy says she has never used drugs or been unfaithful to her husband but Mick did not believe her story and their relationship became strained. Her menstrual cycle stopped completely and an unexplained vaginal infection, usually associated with egg removal or abortion, was resistant to antibiotic treatment. Her doctor had no explanation for Murphy's complaint and she says: 'I can't understand it so I try to put it behind me.' But others just cannot forget. Maria Ward, 34, says her kidnapping on the night of November 21, 1991, by strange beings who left her with rape-type injuries 'frightened me to death'. That night, her husband John was away on business and at 3.15 am she says she was woken by an intense light outside the bedroom window. 'I walked downstairs. I was tingling all over and had no physical control over what I was doing but I heard a monotone voice in my head saying 'don't be afraid, follow the light'. I followed it, even though in my head I was screaming and saying 'I don't want to do this'.' Ward says she followed a ball of light that led her outside and found herself moving upwards. 'Suddenly I'm in this place with solid floor under my feet and three things standing in front of me. They were a tan-grey colour with skinny bodies like under-developed children. They had big heads and big eyes, coal-black with no eyelids. 'Then I'm lying on this table and really frightened but there's nothing I can do. Something was put up my nose and I heard a pop as it was pulled out again. Then they inserted a long fibre strand into my head behind the ear and the pain was terrible. I grabbed his arm which felt clammy and smooth, a bit spongy with no bone. I felt something moving around inside my stomach and I felt something sharp pulling at my womb. I could feel something wriggling around inside me like a worm.' Ward's doctor later recorded injuries for which he could find 'no logical cause'. 'I have never seen these type of injuries prior to this time,' he says. He also discovered rectal bleeding. It looked as if Ward had been raped. Until her kidnapping by aliens, Rosalind, 32, says she was an innocent dog breeder. But five years ago she was driving with Philip, her boyfriend at the time, to visit his family in Corby. 'It was late summer, about 7.30 pm. About 8 pm we hit Sudbury and it was getting dark. As we drove under some electric cables, a huge horseshoe bunch of bright lights appeared hovering overhead. Philip saw it, too.' The aliens followed them until the car stalled. Philip got out to lift the bonnet and for three years what happened next remained a blank in Rosalind's mind. 'The next thing I remember, we were back in the car and Philip was driving. But when we arrived at his house and rang the bell they were a long time answering. Then we realised it was two in the morning.' This amnesiac phenomenon of 'missing time' is often recorded by abductees when stretches of time go blank and can only be remembered under hypnosis. But she was left with genital scarring, a nose bleed, a V-shape cut into her back and into the little finger of her left hand. By Christmas, strange things started happening. Rosalind began sleepwalking and obsessively drawing dots. They linked together to form a high-domed face with black cat's eyes and pointed chin - a typical Grey alien. Eventually Rosalind consulted a hypnotist who persuaded her to relive those hours of missing time. Under hypnosis, Rosalind saw five figures coming towards her across the fields. They took her against her will aboard some kind of vessel and into a room where she was placed on a bench seat made of a transparent hard material. She was restrained and held down on the bench by her arms and her clothing was removed. She couldn't stop them. They started to give her an internal examination. Then suddenly she sat up on the hypnotist's table and shouted: 'No. I don't want children.' Rosalind says she was very frightened and angry - they were trying to impregnate her. 'I think they wanted to implant me with something. There is some kind of genetic manipulation or cross-breeding programme going on. There are probably crossbred humans on the planet already. I feel invaded. It is like a rape and I can't trust men and don't like or want sex.' None of these women agree with the current scientific explanation for their alien ordeals: that they were caused by electrical hypersensitivity. Scientist Alfred Budden says that living close to pylons, electric cables, mobile phone relays, television and radio antennae, airports, sub-stations or even taxi cab control stations can overload the body and make some people allergic to the 'electronic smog' of the urban environment, causing hallucinations. But multiple reports of such 'hallucinations' have convinced UFO-sexologist Budd Hopkins that the women are guinea pigs in an extra-terrestrial breeding programme. 'They are all between 15 and 43 and have eggs taken from them during examination,' he says. While the men argue over explanations, the women are just hoping it will not happen again.
