THE heart of the EDS banking operations is its data centre at Warwick House, Quarry Bay, which was set up in 1989.

From there, the company runs data processing services for some of its most important banking customers.

One is the International Bank of Asia, the IBA, which, since 1989, has contracted EDS to carry out all its computing work.

EDS data centre manager Wan Chi-cheong said about 90 per cent of the banking work done at Warwick House involved the IBA.

EDS also monitors the computers belonging to a large local cargo company.

Mr Wan said the IBA contract meant enough to EDS to match the hardware at its centre with that used by the bank.

'The centre uses these two platforms to support the bank,' Mr Wan said.
