STANDARD Chartered Bank is one of two new companies whose equity options will be traded on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE).

The Standard Chartered options, to be available by the end of the month, will begin trading as an instrument alongside British electricity generator PowerGen.

Daniel Hodson, LIFFE's chief executive said there were now 72 individual equity traded options offered at LIFFE and the addition of Standard Chartered was the result of the exchange's review of its existing product range.

'With demand from LIFFE members, the new options will provide investors with additional flexibility in managing exposure to the British equity market, Mr Hodson said.' The underlying stocks of both Standard Chartered and PowerGen are constituents of the FTSE 100-share index.
