CDL eyes Plaza Hotel

CDL Hotels International is considering acquiring a stake in Donald Trump's Plaza Hotel in New York.

'We have spent some time looking at the Plaza Hotel but we have not decided whether or not to buy the property,' said CDL general manager Lawrence Yip.

'It is too early to talk about that at this moment. If a deal is done, we will make the necessary announcement. At the moment, we do not even have a contract drawn up,' he said.

He declined to comment on the value of the Plaza Hotel, since 'different people have different perceptions of its value'.

Earlier reports estimated that the property was worth US$300 million.

Mr Trump owns 51 per cent of the prestigious 815-room hotel.
