MORE fugitives will be returned to the territory from China because of co-operation between Hong Kong police and the mainland's Public Security Bureau (PSB), a senior officer said yesterday.
Regional Crime Unit detective Superintendent Lam Kwai-bun said he was particularly impressed with the work the PSB had done in returning Wang Yong-yue, 20, from Chongqing city, Sichuan, early yesterday.
'He fled through Macau and entered China [last September.] He was arrested in Chongqing. We did not have his address or anything. They [PSB] must have put a lot of effort in finding him,' Mr Lam said.
Chinese Interpol and Chongqing PSB officers handed over Wang to Hong Kong police in Longgang, Shenzhen. He was then taken to Lok Ma Chau.
Wang was last night expected to be charged with kidnapping and murdering 10-year-old Eddie Wong, who was abducted outside his school in Causeway Bay last September.
The Primary Five pupil's body was found in Tai Mo Shan Country Park before the family had a chance to pay a $3 million ransom.
