Forget hills

I NOTE the preferred solution to conceal the new container terminals from Discovery Bay residents is to construct artificial hills. This will only provide a partial solution as the hills will not be tall enough to conceal the derricks or the light masts, etc.

A more satisfactory solution may be to construct back to back tower blocks. Those facing Discovery Bay could be luxury residential apartments; those facing the terminals could house the new ports administrative facilities. This would obviate the need to waste money on constructing the hills and may even provide much needed employment opportunity to Lantau residents.
