It's all Greek to the Millers' daughter
IT'S been a long haul, but Hong Kong tycoon Robert Warren Miller looks set to enter the social circles to which he has aspired for so long.
His daughter, Marie-Chantal, 26, is to marry Crown Prince Pavlos, 27, eldest son of the former king of Greece, Constantine.
News of the coming nuptials was announced by the ex-monarch yesterday and the wedding will take place at the Greek Cathedral of Saint Sophia in London on July 1.
Mr Miller, who was born in America but became a British citizen, was co-founder of the retailers Duty Free Shoppers Ltd. He is still on the board and is also chairman of the Search group, an investment holding company with headquarters in Hong Kong, where he and his wife, Chantal, have lived for 34 years.
Mr Miller made news in Britain in November when he bought Lord Peel's famous 12,950-hectare hunting estate in northern England for almost $124 million.
In Hong Kong he is involved with the Community Chest and the Conservatory of Music Boards and is also noted for his lavish parties. People still recall with wonder his $1 million four-day, 'Samba at Sea Carnival in Rio', shindig at Repulse Bay in 1978.
