TRINITY College London offers Spoken English Examinations for Speakers of Other Languages (Oral English) which are recognised in Britain by the Schools Examination and Assessment Council and by the British Council. The examinations aim to help candidates develop confidence and skill in oral English. Those who pass will get an internationally-recognised certificate of their oral English skills. The examinations are divided into four stages: Initial, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. At the initial stage, the examination consists of a conversation with the examiner and lasts for five, six or seven minutes (one minute longer for each higher grade). At the elementary stage, the examination consists of a conversation with the examiner, including a discussion of a topic prepared and introduced by the candidate. The examination lasts for 10 minutes. At the intermediate stage, the examination consists of a conversation with the examiner, including a discussion of a topic prepared and introduced by the candidate, and of two texts prepared and introduced by the candidate. Further discussion is based on a listening comprehension passage read aloud to the candidate by the examiner. The examination lasts for 25 minutes.
