A MAN due to stand trial on Monday for drug trafficking was shot dead near his Yuen Long home early yesterday. Yun Hon-luen, 37, was hit once in the stomach by one of two men who ambushed him as he arrived in a car just before 4.30 am. Police said the victim, thought to be a 14K 'Tak' group member, had just got out of his car at a car park in Wang Lok Street, Wang Chau, when two men approached him. Despite the gunshot wound, Yun used his mobile telephone to call his 36-year-old wife who alerted police. The victim was certified dead at 7.40 am. Detectives were told by Yun's wife that her husband recognised one of the men. A suspect, 35, surrendered at the Yuen Long police station last night. Police late last night raided his Yuen Long home, and took away his 40-year-old girlfriend. The woman's 35-year-old brother and another man were assisting with police inquiries. Yun, currently on court bail, faces two counts of trafficking in dangerous drug in December 1993. He was due to appear with another defendant on Monday in a High Court trial before Mr Justice Leong.
