THE music scene is livening up after a seasonal lull. In addition to a concert by soulful James Taylor scheduled for March, tickets have now gone on sale for a gig by American singer-songwriter Richard Marx, who will perform at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on February 27. Marx has penned some of the most romantic ballads of all time, including The Way She Loves Me and Right Here Waiting. Another hit, Now And Forever from his Paid Vacation album, went gold in Hong Kong. Duet Productions, who brought Elton John, Kenny G, Billy Connolly and Dame Edna to these shores, lured Marx for what promises to be another successful venture. Meanwhile, Le Bar Bat in Lan Kwai Fong has launched bi-weekly performances with rhythm and blues trio Tiger Tiger. The trio will play every Thursday and Sunday from 10 pm to 1 am, until February 5, after which it's Tuesdays and Sundays. The group's Filipino vocalist-percussionist, Michele Carrillo, began her music career at the tender age of seven, and she is currently recording a solo album. Jazz, played by The Through Train and Ube, will also be performed at the dungeonesque venue on Wednesdays and Thursdays respectively.
